M.I.A.

I feel as though I owe you all an explanation or so. See, I haven't been blogging all that much recently. Real life has been, well, not that interesting to talk about. I post on my blog about things that I find interesting, when I feel I can be informative, or when I feel creative. As of late, nothing I've been doing has really qualified for me making a quality post. I do, occasionally post, but I don't really feel, enthusiastic about it, ranting or talking a lot about something that I find uninteresting.

I will, tell you what I've been doing though. UFS : Universal Fighting System. It's a card game. Seriously. It's a card game about 1 on 1 fighting games, and currently has Street Fighter and Soul Calibur III as the two games in the franchise. And it means Universal. You can mix and match the cards, having both sets in a single deck. I won't go into the mechanics really, but basically, you choose a character from your deck, and that's who you are during that fight.

Anyways, that plus Cold Snap, the new Expansion to Magic: the Gathering came out last weekend, and it's a very fun set. It's actually, a revisit to Ice Age, almost 10 years ago. The block was never finished (it was the first 'block', so they didn't know what they were really doing back then). So, they finally finished it, but cards from Cold Snap are still type 2, so even though you can play Ice Age block with them, you can also play Type 2 with them (trust me, this sounds boring, but for Magic players, this is really amazing).

Nerdiness aside, I should start working again within a few weeks, and my freinds from college are having it's annual (well, 2+ times per summer, does that really count?) beach outings. It'll just be a few of us nerds, people who played magic, did fencing, role playing, etc. We're normal people, trust me. Seriously. Hey, where are you going!? Come back here! ... Ok, now that you're back, I was about to say, it's 2 Saturdays from now, and I'll most likely go because I haven't gone since 2 years ago, and this will be the last one this summer. I haven't seen some of these people for 6+ months, so it'll be refreshing... Although LA water isn't really all that tantalizing, and my hair feels gross after swimming in it, and gets tangled... I'll probably just help build the sand castle, eat, dig holes, and just hang around. Do a few lunges as we fence, dig a few pits for the moat, and just have a good time.

Until next time, this is your friendly local Bad Critiq, with nothing very interesting to post, so he rants and rants and rants and omg there he goes again bye!

Don't leave me, dear brother. I want you to be with me forever...

Saturday - Power Outage Day

Power was out from 1:30~2pm, till sometime about 10:30pm. I was out all day, no AC in the house (there is not before, during or after the power outage anyways), and my freind who lives 4 blocks away was also afflicted with the power outage. Sadly, we went and housed ourselves at a fast food place for a couple hours, and stayed where it was cool, and played some card games for several hours. I returned home later, sometime about 6pm, and the power was still nowhere to be found. No computer, no fan, no ice, no refridgerated water. I think I'll head out again. Thus I return late, and get online until early. And with that, I go to bed now, wheee~

Revelation

It seems I have missused this blog unintentionally. Initially, I posted what I wanted, when I wanted. Now, that I have frequent visitors, I find myself going out of my way to cater to their needs more often than posting what I want. Strange that things have turned around so strangely, it has become more of a chore, than a way to relieve stress, express my thoughts and feelings, etc. I'll take more liberties to post what I want, when I want, but still considering what others want, just not as much. :D

Ding Ding Ding!

Something special, but it's a secret. I wonder what it is? Well, I know what it is. But give it 4 or 10 days, it will reveal itself in due time.

Blank statement

I have nothing to say, but feel like talking. Does this happen to anyone? I feel like talking to someone, about something, anything, I don't want to ramble on about nothing, but I have an urge to talk to someone... and if possible, someone in paticular. I don't need to say anything more than that. Just in one of those moods, you know?

Blank Statement. That's the meaning of this post. I have a lot to say, but not much to say at all. Nothing I can really say, just a lot that I'm feeling. ~rawr~ I guess, but I'm tired now. I won't sleep, I don't sleep much as it is, and don't feel revitalized by it, so I generally get 4~6 hours of sleep on average.

I'm ranting again, bleh. Time to go.

Bad Joke Theater

Whats the difference between jesus and a picture of Jesus?
It only takes one nail to hang a picture of Jesus.

General>: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting.
Female>: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?
General>: I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.
Female>: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?
General>: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.
Female>: But you're equipping them to become violent killers.
General>: Well, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?

True Love?

Somewhat Interesting <3

You know when you've not much happening in your life interesting to talk about, and you really don't feel like saying trvial stuff that you could read about and actually be less informed somehow (your are brain cells dying from just reading it). So, by doing you a favor, I'll post interesting pictures after this picture, to hopefully relieve your brain cells from commiting suicide, and getting dead brain juice all over your ... well brain.

I feel like I'm getting a mixed response from the Magic articles, and I don't really mind, as I said, those are in addition to normal posts, so if you don't like them, just skip them. This post is going to be about what an (un)interesting couple of days I've been having. It's been hot, and it's been humid, I want to shower 10 times a day, and I think that having AC would greatly add to the comfort factor. Being sticky all day isn't a good feeling. Temeratures here are reacing over 100 this week, and likely to break 110. That isn't much compared to Las Vegas which is probably far more, as it hit 115 last week, and it's going to be far worse this week.

Dehydration! Very very dangerous, even though you might not think so, or notice the symptoms. An article linked to me from my g-mail account to About.com, speaks about the topic: "Dehydration: What a Pain!"

A site I use to frequent a lot, and have once again found is Questionswap. See, you make a free account, and then get started asking a question. You will get a random question someone else asked, while some random person will answer your question. Repeat as needed. Sound fun? Probably not, but try it a bit, and see what kind of responses you get, and questions you get to answer.

I find it a good place to waste time, and sometimes it's very helpful if you want a 3rd party view. You can ask the same questions more than once, but be warrned that you may get the same person answering, as they are given to people who are currently logged in. If it's only you and one other, it'll get pretty stale.

Chiizukeeki Sale - Anything interest anyone? It's for a worthy cause. :D Just don't ask what that cause is. What? Why are you looking at me like that? Fine, it's to help my girlfreind and her EGL addiction. So what? What's wrong with that? =P

And now the promised image gallery, full of fun (see first picture), motivation and love (see the third, fourth, fifth and sixth picture). I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. I gotta practice that first one, it looks damn fun. Yes, I probably do have enough time to memorize and learn that game, though I doubt I could find anyone else to play with T-T

MTG: White

[Greetings! Critiq here, to copy and paste the great writings of Mark Rosewater. Again, everything I comment on will be in brackets, and some edits have been made for the non-magic reading public. Bolded and blue text are included, for you who wish to just breeze through it, there's a lot of words, I understand. =P I'll start at the top (White) and work clockwise whenever I bring up a mono-color article (that is, not a pair of colors), with that, I say: Enjoy!]

[The questions that will be used to define each color is]

* What does the color care about? What is its end goal?
* What means does the color use to achieve these ends?
* What does the color care about? What does the color represent?
* What does the color despise? What negatively drives the color?
* Why does the color like its allies and hate its enemies?
* What is the color’s greatest strength and biggest weakness?
* What does the color care about? What is its end goal?

Each color’s philosophy is anchored in what it wants. Each color strives to make the world in the image it believes it should be. That said, what does white value most? Harmony. White wants a world where everyone gets along. White enjoys community. White wants what is best for the whole. White looks out for everyone. White would be happiest in a utopian society where everyone shares and cooperates with one another. White’s ultimate goal is peace.

I’d like to make a quick aside about white and the concept of “good.” Good and evil are labels used by people to signify whether something promotes their values or attacks their values. Something that promotes the values you believe in is good. Something that attacks the values you believe in is evil. Each color in Magic believes strongly in the thing it seeks. Therefore it sees itself as good and the enemies that oppose it as evil.

Many humans share some global beliefs (the taking of a human life is wrong, for example). Some of white’s tenets line up with some of these universal human beliefs. Therefore white is sometimes seen as the color of “good.” Ah, but white is neither inherently good nor evil. White, as well as every other color in Magic, will do things that can be labeled both “good” and “evil,” and even that might not be consistent from person to person. Preservation of life is very white. Most of you would probably classify that as “good.” Fascism is also very white. Most of you would probably classify that as “evil.”

I mention this because I believe it’s important to separate the white-black conflict from good versus evil. Morality versus amorality. Light versus dark. Purity versus corruption. The white/black conflict takes on many shades, but "good versus evil" is far too subjective to use properly. Let’s take one of the elements of the white/black conflict, the rights of the group versus the rights of the self. This conflict pits socialism [all] versus capitalism [one]. Capitalism is the black side of the argument. Is capitalism inherently evil? I don’t think so. (Although I know there are those that would disagree with me.) I’ll talk more about black (including its “good” side) when we get to Black Week.

What means does the color use to achieve these ends?

White is looking not just to help itself but to help the entire world. This is a daunting task. How can it not just create but also maintain peace? The answer is through structure. By making strict rules and laws, white can ensure that things stay in control. White extends these laws to two distinct areas.

First is by moral laws. White believes that morality is cut-and-dried. There is right and there is wrong. Individuals are morally obligated to do right. But white takes it even further. Individuals are also morally obligated to stop those that do wrong. White’s fervor in this area leads white to use religion.

The second of white's "tools" is civil laws. These are rules set up to make sure that the individual does not upset the greater good of the group. White believes that the good of society is more important than the rights of a single individual. The laws white creates help ensure that the group is protected. White’s fervor in this area leads white to use politics and the judicial system.

This desire to protect and create rules defines much of white’s mechanics. White’s defensive nature can be seen throughout the color: life gain, healing, damage prevention, attacker removal, protection, defensive enchantments, enchantment removal, etc.

Another defensive part of white is its reliance on equality. White has the ability to reset the board so that both sides have an equal playing ground. This is why spells like Wrath of God [destroys all creatures] (and yes, even Armageddon [destroy all lands]) are flavored in white. In addition, white has an aggressive side. White proactively punishes the rule-breakers. White can use its organizational skills to build an army. Its individual pieces are small (thus its reliance on small creatures), but together they form a united whole.

White wins the game by controlling the environment. It takes a defensive stance and then uses the tools at its disposal to stop the threats of the enemy. Once the threats are contained, white’s army can then win the day. From time to time, white will use its aggressive attack as a preemptive defensive maneuver. (This strategy is popularly known as "white weenie.")

What does the color care about? What does the color represent?

Caught between the nature of green and the nurture of blue, white is all about balance. White understands the importance of valuing the past but also sees the importance of planning for the future. More than any other color white makes use of symbolism. In addition, white is the color of civilization. As such, the list of things it represents is slightly longer than the other colors:

Order Purity Religion Civilization Structure Law Honor Construction Morality Politics Courage Optimism Defense Strategy Chivalry Loyalty Cooperation Military Self-sacrifice Honesty Light Organization Community Medicine

What does the color despise? What negatively drives the color?

White lives by its laws. As such, it cannot tolerate those that do not follow them. White views such disobedience very severely. The message white communicates is: “Break my laws and you will suffer.”

This is where white’s aggressive side comes from. White believes that it has a moral and civil right to stop what it considers to be evildoers. White sees this kind of an attack as being proactively defensive. If white does not stop them now, they will come later to hurt white’s way of life.

Why does the color like its allies and hate its enemies?

In green, white sees a fellow color that understands the importance of community. That the good of the whole is more important than the good of the individual. Also, unlike blue, white seems capable of living an agrarian life that blends civilization with nature.

In blue, white sees a fellow color that understands the importance of restraint. Both white and blue value planning and discipline. Blue realizes the need for rules and has the patience to think long-term.

In red, white sees an enemy that does not respect civil laws. Red does what it wants whenever it wants creating chaos. This flies in the face of the order white so desperately craves. If red had its way, anarchy would reign over the land. If white is to have its peace, red must be destroyed.

In black, white sees an enemy that does not respect moral laws. Black selfishly promotes the needs of the individual over the needs of the group. And there is nothing more dangerous than those willing to put their own personal needs in front of anything else. Black is a dangerous cancer that must be destroyed.

What is the color’s greatest strength and biggest weakness?

White’s greatest strength is its ability to create and enforce laws. If white can make you play by its rules, the opponent doesn’t stand a chance. The downside to this structure is inflexibility. White does not have the ability to quickly adapt as it’s very set in its ways. In addition, white is so focused on the group that is often loses sight of the individual.

[Examples]

During R&D’s discussion on the Color Wheel, we cut out pictures from magazines and taped them on a giant Color Wheel on the wall to demonstrate how we saw the colors. This section proved to me the most controversial during Green Week so, of course, I had to do it again. Here’s what we considered to be white characters:

Superman – Known in comics circles as the “Boy Scout.” Superman always, always plays by the rules. He has a very moral center. In addition, he feels one of his major roles is to protect others. All of these behaviors are very white.

King Arthur – Arthur’s main agenda was helping and protecting his subjects. He, too, had a strong moral code that guided his actions. And he made great use of structure to build and maintain this protection.

Marge Simpson – She is the moral center of the family. She and Lisa seem to be the only ones ever guided by conscience. She takes it upon herself to provide structure for her family. And she is protective to the point of being self-sacrificial.

Captain Jean-Luc Picard – The Federation is very much a white organization. It has a moral center and loves its rules. Picard is a good soldier for the Federation. He has a strong moral compass and he leads his people very much by the rules laid out before him. Picard enjoys structure. So much so that one of his pastimes is archeology, studying the structures of other civilizations.

10 Random Pictures for your enjoyment

MTG: Color Coded

I found an article by Mark Rosewater (when I was just reading his older articles for no reason other than /nerd) and I came up a discussion over combining colors together with their ally/enemy colors. Also, a larger, better colored (the older picture I got was faded so I had to artificially darken/color it), and it's definately more detailed. Look! Everything below is straight copy and paste from his article Split (Odds &) Ends, unless it's in [these nifty brackets]. Some things have been edited out, in hopes to not confuse the non-magic players. Though, there's like 3 people who read my blog anyways, *shrugs* Everyone can accept this post this way, if anyone reads it anyways lol.

---------------------------------------------------

For purposes of this discussion, you have to imagine a line between the green mana symbol and the white one.

Why? Because that is the natural break we make between the colors when we design and develop the cards. We call it the WUBRG order (U stands for Blue for those that don't know this convention – B was already taken for Black and L was taken for Land). This is the order we always put the colors into. It is most noticeable on the cards in two places. First, the collector number goes in WUBRG order and second, the order of mana symbols in the mana cost are ordered in this way.

To figure out what order the colors go in, pick two colors. Now going around the circle, pick the shortest path between the two colors (you may go either clockwise or counterclockwise). Draw the line you've made. To figure out the order, start with the color earliest in a counterclockwise direction. For allied colors, it breaks out as such:

white mana blue mana [Azorious - The Law]
blue mana black mana [Dimir - Master of Secrets]
black mana red mana [Rakdos - Chaos and Slaughter]
red mana green mana [Gruul - Tribes of Rage]
green mana white mana [Selesnya - Nature and Equality]

All of the ally color combinations follow WUBRG order except GW. Because the closest physical connection crosses the line, it means that the mana symbols are reversed from the traditional WUBRG order.

Let's try the enemy colors:

white mana black mana [Orzhov - Maintained Heiarchy]
blue mana red mana [Izzit - Mad Genius]
black mana green mana [Golgari - Life and Death]
red mana white mana [Boros - Buring Conviction]
green mana blue mana [Simic - Genetic Scientists ]

---------------------------------------------------

Ok, so everything in there (minus the Brackety goodness) is taken from the article I linked to earlier. What does this mean? Not much, but I think they did a much nicer job (plus they had the resources and ability to get the actual color symbols for each of the colors) than I did initially. Doesn't that look pretty though?

Every color has 2 allies, and 2 enemies. (Again for clarification, ally colors are the adjacent ones, enemy colors are the ones on the opposite side) Everyone has friends, and enemies, but their freinds also have allies of their own, and that's when the complications start. Look at the picture above:

Red: Hey Black, help me overpower White.
Black: Sure, no problems at all.
Red: Ok, Blue is being an ass.
Black: Well I don't see a problem with that.
Red: Dammit.
Black: Can you help me with Green though?
Red: What? No, we have an understanding.
Black: *sigh* Fine.

You can't hurt an enemy without hurting an ally, and helping an enemy. Likewise, you can't help an ally without helping an enemy, and hurting a friend. (If you were Green, if you hurt your enemy Blue, you'd be hurting White's ally, and indirectly hurting White). Thus, an equality and balence is created. If it wasn't divided 5 ways, it wouldn't work. 4 way? Then Each player would have one enemy, and it'd be two fights (black/white and blue/red, let's say) and nobody would care about the other colors, only their enemy. Ahh, the color wheel, how I love thee. <3

NOTE: The pictures look MUCH BETTER on a white background, where the source was from, so please take that into consideration when you see the jagged edges.

MTG: Black and White

From Mark Rosewater's Article "Playing By Their Own Rules", about the Orzhov Guild (The Black and White Guild) in Magic The Gathering, Ravnica Block. I'll add in my own snipets here in there in these fancy little [ ]. Brackets I believe are their correct term... please tell me if that's what they're called *blush* And maybe color coding words made it easier for you, but it was NOT easy for me, so I don't think I can continue to do that anymore. I will highlight certain words/passages that are of interest though, if you're just breezing through. [Slightly edited for our non-Magic playing freinds]

---------------------------------------------------

What do the two colors have in common?

The key to understanding two enemy colors is understanding the conflict between them. Ironically, the conflict between Black and White is the most iconic yet the most complex. White vs. Black represents so many different things: Morality vs. Amorality, The Value of the Group vs. the Value of the Individual; Light vs. Dark; Focusing Outward vs. Focusing Inward.

In short, White is all about doing what benefits the good of the group. You know using things like morals and ethics. Black, on the other hand, benefits itself. Black does what's good for Black. Not even Black as a whole - each Black mages looks out solely for himself, selling out any other Black mages if the needs arises. It's an understatement to say that these two vantage points are in direct conflict with one another. So how does the White/Black guild deal with this dichotomy? Compromises, my dear reader, compromises.

The key is making each half refocus how it thinks and meeting halfway. The way this is done is by focusing on the needs of a small insular group. The White half thinks of the group as its community. The Black half uses its selfish means to advance the group as an extension of itself. This allows both halves to treat the group with foremost importance.

The similarities don't stop there though. One of the defining qualities of the White/Black conflict is that the two colors parallel one another in many ways. For example, White and Black are the two colors most affiliated with religion (and thus, mechanically, have the vast majority of all the clerics). Both colors make use of sacrifice (sure, White sacrifices itself for the good of the group and Black sacrifices others for the good of itself, but that's just splitting hairs). White and Black are the two colors best at mass creature removal (okay, okay Red doesn't suck either). The two both use spirit link from time to time. The list is surprisingly long for two colors that hate each other's guts.

---------------------------------------------------

How do the two colors differ? What is the guild's internal conflict? [How do you deal with your two different ideas?]

As I stated above, White and Black care about diametrically opposed ideals. White lives to serve the group. Black lives to serve the individual. White wants to create rules and laws and morals to protect the welfare of the average citizen. Black couldn't care less about the average citizen. Well, unless there's some way to get something from him to make one's own life better. The average man is just yet another pawn to Black.

The guild conflict that results from this is one of confused loyalties. The White half needs to trust and believe in the group. The Black half is paranoid and skeptical. Trust and paranoia don't play so nicely together. What results is a guild that bands together out of mutual necessity, but never completely bonds. The best parallel I can give for this is a wonderful game called Diplomacy. For those of you that have never played, Diplomacy is a strategy war game. Each person represents a different company in 1900 Europe. The key to the game rests on alliances you make with one another as you each attempt to take control of other people's areas.

Here's the dilemma. You can't win without alliances. Yet everyone ultimately needs to betray you to win. You have to trust people, yet can never truly trust anyone. That, my friends, is White/Black.

---------------------------------------------------

What does the guild care about? What is its end goal? What means does the guild use to achieve these ends? [Know Thyself. Note that a lot of this was written in the view of the Guild in the Game, so take the concept and apply it to real life.]

To understand the guild's goals, we have to first look at the goals of each of the two colors. White seeks peace. White wants everyone to get along. Black seeks omnipotence. Black wants to have all the power for itself. So how does one have both peace and omnipotence? By being the one that controls the peace. White/Black wants a world without pain and suffering. Although it understands it might need to use pain and suffering to achieve this goal. White/Black believes in tough love. It keeps you safe at the cost of all your liberties. After all, what do you need liberties for if White/Black is taking control of everything for you?

The key to making this work is making sure everyone has a clear understanding of their place and order. This is why White/Black loves hierarchies. Unhappiness comes from wanting to achieve something you cannot. If you know your exact place, then you will not deceive yourself into believing that you will ever get any more, and you can be satisfied in knowing you will never get anything less. White/Black trades potential for security. Wouldn't you be willing to give up all rewards to live in a world without risks?

White/Black uses structure as a means of gaining power. He (or she) who makes the rules can make them in their own best interest. At the same time, White/Black feels an obligation towards the individuals who make up its structure. It's kind of like the bully who makes sure that no other bully bothers you... Give me my fair share of your lunch money and then you are guaranteed that no one else will take any more. After all the energy White/Black takes to make its flock, it definitely needs to take steps to shepherd it.

White/Black has one last trick up its sleeve. While it uses its structure as a means to immobilize everyone it comes in contact with, it also, slowly (in the background), saps away the resources of all who oppose it. White/Black is patient. It understands that small gains (or the opponent's small losses) will build up over time. There's no need to rush if you have control of the situation.

---------------------------------------------------

What does the guild despise? What negatively drives the guild? [ To know what you are, you must also know what you aren't, right?]

The best way to examine what an enemy color pair despises is to look at the similarity of the colors' two other enemies. For White that would be Red. For Black it is Green. What do Red and Green have in common? A desire to function off impulse or instinct. Red and Green act with the gut rather than the head. They are the two colors that least like thinking. They prefer acting. White/Black doesn't like that way of thinking (or is that not thinking) at all.

White/Black prefers a docile society. Thoughts can be swayed. Logic can be argued. But mindless instinct is a lost cause. The key to White/Black's success is convincing all those around it that what White/Black is doing is in their best interest. Or at worst stall them long enough to get the dirty work done behind the scenes. It doesn't work if the people never take the bait. White/Black's only choice with people that act before they think is destruction. Because if you can't fit in White/Black's master scheme, you are worthless to White/Black.

---------------------------------------------------

What is the color's greatest strength and biggest weakness?

White/Black's greatest strength is its ability to institute order. You might think this would be mono-White's domain, but mono-White has the problem that what is good for the group comes at the expense of individuals. Selling White's vision requires more effort. White/Black, on the other hand, only focuses on a subgroup. As such, it can offer that subgroup things at the expense of everyone not in the subgroup. It's much easier to be sold a package when someone else is doing the suffering.

White/Black's greatest weakness is its ability to self-destruct. Everything White/Black is carefully building is based upon a shaky trust. White/Black can rely on others within its subgroup most of the time but not all of the time. And when things go bad for White/Black, they can get rather ugly.

---------------------------------------------------

[CRITIQ BACK, So what does this mean for you? It means if you're Black/White, you're (check the previous post) on opposite ends of the wheel, and are generally opposing in ideal. But applied correctly, you are very powerful. Some example people that Mark Rosewater brings up is:]

---------------------------------------------------

Don Corleone – Don Coreleone was the very first character I thought of when trying to identify the essence of the ten Ravnica block guilds. To me, the mafia (as represented in The Godfather) is the perfect example of White/Black. The group is fundamentally very selfish yet is very respectful of “the family” as an entity. Don Corleone, for example, goes to great lengths to look out for his family. He greatly values what the group represents. That said, when he has to whack someone in his own family for his own reasons, he doesn't hesitate. Okay, he probably feels a little guilty, but then that's how White/Black works.

Magneto – Magneto is not your average villain looking to take over the world. I mean, yes he does want to take over the world, but for a cause he greatly believes in. His family is the family of mutants. (And for comic fans out there, I'm not going to even get into the post-“House of M” Magneto.) He is motivated by doing what is best for the mutant race. He cares very much about their welfare, so much so that to care for them he is more than happy to kill all the humans. Humans are not part of his little subgroup and thus get the Black end of the stick.

Spike (from Buffy, the Vampire Slayer and Angel) – You don't get much more selfish than Spike. Yet in every incarnation of the character, there's some other person or persons that drives his motivations (starting with Drusilla through Buffy and ending on the Angel gang). He is always looking out for someone else. As the character evolved, he found himself drawn to helping out the greater good. He even sacrificed himself to stop a greater evil. Yet his selfish ways persisted throughout.

Jerry Seinfeld (the character from Seinfeld, not the comedian who actually exists) – Jerry is motivated by selfishness. Yet he has this compulsion for order. (He alphabetizes his cereal boxes as an example.) Like the other White/Black characters, he has his little clique that he values. In Jerry's case, it is his small group of friends. He actually, well for as much as Jerry can, looks out for them, provided, of course, that his own needs don't get in the way.

---------------------------------------------------

I hope some of you read some of this, because even if you don't care about Black/White personalities, it's good to get to know them, if you care at all. If not, wait for my real posts. :D <3

Magic: The Gathering: The Addiction

(Gasp! Too many words? Skip to the paragraph before the pictures, really, I understand. You can come back and read these big blocks of text later, you'll want to, honest. I'll even bold the first letter of the paragraph and make it fancy, so you'll recognize it easier.)
---------------------------------------------------

Today, I'm going to be talking about a different color of magic each day (if I don't fall behind, which is unlikely), and talk about what each color means. What does this mean to you? Well, probably not much if you're not in the right mood. The color wheel (Which represents all 5 colors of magic) isn't just part of the game. The color wheel has a lot of psychology behind it. What colors do you like? Why? What does that say about your personality?

"But it's just a game!"

Hush, no, it's not. The color wheel, taken outside of magic, has become a big part of my philosophy on life and personality. Sounds like a lot huh? Well, it is, but trust me, if you read into each color, how they interact with the other colors, you'd understand too. If you play magic (or use to play), it's definately a plus.

Also, for the players, learning the color wheel will give you a new found respect for the game, and understanding of what the colors mean, how they work, and how to play. It has polished up my rusty game skills, and I know each color for what it is in game, and outside of the game. I doubt I have many readers who actually play Magic (I know of one that USE to, however), but trust me, everyone, these colors are worth understanding. I don't usually try to 'push' my ideas onto people, but if I truely like something, I'll sell it as hard as I can to try and get my freinds to understand it too, because it means a lot to me (For example, Fight Club, one of my favorite movies ever. WATCH IT <3). style="font-size:180%;">~First, I'll give a brief introduction to the color wheel itself. It's so simple, yet so deep, so elegent. Does so much with saying so little. What is it? Let me show you. The kind folks at Wizards provided this image:
---------------------------------------------------
The "Infamous" Color Wheel
(PLEASE Click for larger image)
---------------------------------------------------
So much to say, so much to say, but nowhere to start. The first question is, what does it all mean? The outer ring shows words that define it's core characteristics. Red is fueled by impulse and chaos, while Green is fueld by Instinct and interdependence. The smaller ring inside are some words to help illustrate what each color is; White is Uncreative, Peace activist, and Law abiding, while blue is Intellectual, omnicient, and enjoys inaction. This may seem like a random jumbling of words at first, but come back to this picture later, I assure you it will make more sense.
---------------------------------------------------
Magic the Gathering Card (Back Side)
---------------------------------------------------
Please note, that this is an edited picture, and the black 'circle' and white 'pentagram' isn't on the actual card itself, I added to show you where you get 'ally' colors and 'enemy' colors. Black lines point to each color's ally (adjacent) and white lines point to each color's enemy (opposite). We'll start from the top, and work our way clockwise (Color-coded for your convenience!):

White : Moral (Laws of God/Spirit), Order (Laws of Man). Uncreative, Peace, Law.
Allies: Green and Blue
Enemies: Black and Red

Blue : Logic (Intellectual Theroy), Technology (Intellectual Application). Intellect, Omniscience, Inaction
Allies: White and Black
Enemies: Red and Green

Black : Parasatism (Selfishness at the Expense of Others), Amoral (Selfishness Above All Else). Selfishness, Omnipotence, Paranoia.
Allies: Blue and Red
Enemies: Green and White

Red : Impulse (Emotional Action), Chaos (Spontaneous Action). Freedom, Action, Short-Sighted.
Allies: Black and Green
Enemies: White and Blue

Green : Instinct (Natural Descisions), Interdependence (Natural Survival). Naieve, Growth, Nature.
Allies: Red and White
Enemies: Blue and Black

What does this all mean? All I did was copy and paste from that picture earlier (gasp!). What does it mean? I'm glad you asked (or, read what I wrote, thanks either way). Well, it's all spelled out in front of you. Let's just take one or two as an example.

Red use to be my favorite, so let's use that. Red: Impluse and Chaos. What are it's enemies? White and Blue. What do they like? Logic and Order. Those are direct oppsites, right? (Impulse opposes Logic, and Chaos opposes Order) While Red enjoys causing chaos and doing what it wants, White wants to set rules and make sure everything is done at the correct place and correct time. Also, Red wants to do what it's heart tells them to do, and emotions don't wait. You're hungry, you gotta eat, right? You're mad, you show it, smash-scream-RAWR. But Blue doesn't think that's good, Blue thinks you should control yourself, think of what the consiquences later may bring, and plan ahead. Red does not like planning ahead.

What about it's allies? Green and Black. They like Instinct and Amorality. That sounds about right, doesn't it? Red likes to follow it's instinct (Green), and do what it likes to do (Black). The allies each have things in common. While Red does enjoy following his gut, and doing what he wants regardless of what others say, they're only ally colors. If they agreed on everything, they'd be the same color, right? They each have their differences as well, different philosophy.

Red is too destructive for Green, and thinks too small for Black. See, Black (who is Red's Ally) enjoys spending time with Blue, who understands planning ahead, and how it can be of use (something Red doesn't think about). Green (who is also Red's Ally) has an understanding with White. They both agree in equality, and that one should not be trying to control everything.

Then again, White and Green disagree on things as well. As does Black and Blue. In fact, each color has a lot that it doesn't agree with each other color. Each have two similar minds that understand them... to a degree, and two ideals that conflict a great deal. That's not to say Black and White, or Red and Blue can't be freinds, (because as I'll show you later, they can), but they have a lot of conflicts in their core beliefs. For a Red/White engagement to take place, it'd have to have a lot to discuss and work out, likewise for Green/Blue, or any enemy color.

---------------------------------------------------

Now, I'm not trying to push some sort of belief or ideal onto you who happens to be reading this article. But, do take it seriously when I talk about it, because I am serious (well, as serious as I can be, discussing a card game, which is quite serious for a nerd). What color are you? We've all got a bit of each color in us. We are selfish sometimes (black), like to buy things on impulse (red), enjoy competition (green), understand the need for laws (white), and solve problems and plan ahead (blue). What color best represents you? I don't know, you have to ask yourself that.

What do you enjoy the most? What do you enjoy the least? What color best speaks to you? What color(s) turn you off more than the others? It's not an easy choice to pick just one, I know I have a problem picking just one. It's a fun exersize to do, and to share with others. I don't take the credit for designing, or writing about the Color Wheel. The good folks over at Wizards of the Coast and Magic the Gathering (and the creator of Magic, Richard Garfield *amen*). But what I do want to say, is that wether you play the game or not, anyone can appreciate the color wheel.

Also, I must mention, that while some colors may seem bad (Black and Red for example), they're not, there's no good and evil. Good and Evil can exist in any color. Red, while it stands for destruction, also stands for love, and emotions. Black, while it stands for selfishness, also is very important to each person's emotional state, and must think of themselves sometimes. Honestly, I use to be White/Blue, and that was bad. I was always thinking ahead (Blue), for the greater good (White), and never caring about myself (Opposite of White was Black), and my feelings were often taking a back seat so I can help others (Opposite of Blue is Red). And while some colors may appear as good, they've also able to bring evil. For white, the individual isn't as important, and no matter who you are, if you've done something wrong, you're held accountable, mistakes are unforgivable (very harsh indeed). Green, dislikes progress. If we were all green, we would not have researched science, DNA, build roads and houses, etc.

I hope you enjoyed reading today's post (which was actually yesterday's post, but it took so long it got pushed to today, Thursday, eeks!), and will hope you would like to read about the individual colors in details. I'll be taking requests as to what colors you would like to hear about first, and then work my way clockwise. Thanks all, and hopefully some of you read it.

Monday - Umm... rantish?

Post Part 1 - Rant rant rant

You can skip the rant if you want, it's not necessary to read. *nods* I'll post a regular post after, I swear, I could rant for ages, and probably looks like I have, but don't worry, I won't make you read it or comment. (not that I could, unless I use my mind control powers oOoOoO~ *wavey hands*)

--------------------------------------------------
I have a freind, who's quite stubborn. Very stubborn, holds grudges indefinately, and conveniently remembers/forgets things sometimes. He's recently been ranting/arguing/discussing (whatever you want to call it) with his ex gf, whom is also freinds with me, and freinds with other friends, we've got some mutual friends, to put it in a more simple phrase. Anyways, he's stubborn. Really stubborn.

Let me begin, with this. I've known him for four years or so, since HS, and we're good freinds. What do people do when their freinds are down? You help them. What do people do when freinds need help? You help them, right? Well, you give up after a while, when you try to help them but they're too stuborn to see they've done anything wrong.

Not really, don't think I'm all self-righteous here (I am, but not in this case, honest), many of our mutual freinds try to help him, and one time, when he and his ex broke up (well, she broke up with him for the reasons I am discussing), he had a 'revelation', an 'epiphany'. He realised that because of his stubborn nature, his insecurity, and a few other problems, he was definately at fault for the relationship ending.

Asking her to change, not wanting to change his faults, pushing the relationship faster than she was ready for (insecurities, wanting it to be more secure to feel better), always feeling down on himself when he does anything wrong (when many of the times, it's not his fault), etc etc. And when asked to confront these issues, he a) gets mad, or b) disregards anything you say. Issues, what issues?

I've tried, many times, all of us have, and yet he still doesn't get it. He thinks we speak down to him, well we kinda do when it comes to certain things, like:

Us: "Stephen, what are you doing? You know that's wrong right? It'll only bite you in the ass?"
Stephen: "What? What makes you say that?"
Us: *gives reasons*
Stephen: "Eh, oh well. I don't think it's a big deal.
Us: "Ok, if you want, but remember we warned you."

-some time later-

Stephen: "Fuck, I fucked up, I did *action* and *action* and I fucked things up"
Us: "We told you it'd be wrong, and it would come back to hurt you."
Stephen: "Well I'm going to learn from my mistakes and change."

Take that, and copy and paste it a couple times, dozens maybe, about him being stubborn, his love of generalizing (all asians this, all blacks that, all women this, all guys that, etc etc), and a few other things that I don't keep track of (note: I'll hit this topic again later). Well, after they broke up, he got 'serious' and was really wanting to change. But, in the end, it was a more exciting and drawn out story, which is just like the one above.

I'm ranting now, because he was up till 8:00 am chatting with his ex (who are still freinds, we all are) and I got up at 5:30 am (to see my gf off to work) and was suprised to see them both on. One was suprising, the other was more, both was strange indeed. The topic now, was how pissed he is, that she doesn't treat him like they use to... You know, when they were dating... That makes sense to anyone? I mean, obviously, you two broke up, you were close, very close when dating, but now that you're not dating, she's not going to be as close as before. She's also going to be hesitant to do anything that might give you the impresion that she likes you 'like that', because you're still not over her.

Oh, that thing I said I'd talk about later. Holds grudges forever. Keeps a mental diary (which isn't accurate half the time, he's been caught with ... some made up events, that were impossible) of every fault we have, and likes to bring it up whenever we bring up any point on him. His defense would be "Well give me an example" regarding something he's done. We don't, because we try to forget when he's being stupid, but it happens, a lot. And all of us agree. He somehow things we're just being yes-men to each other, nobody really believes it, but is just being nice to the other people, saying yes. Not possible that we all believe it, and have told you about it, several times, over the course of several years, time and time again, right?

It's not possible that we might be right, considering that we have to, on many, many occasions, dozens, end conversations with "You just don't get it Stephen", and have to drop it, that doesn't have anything to do with it, right? We're all out to get you, right? RIGHT?

Most recently, he's been getting into it again, and his ex and I talk about the situation a lot, mostly because I was online at 5:30am, and because she needed to vent. I'm use to being the Vent-ee to the Vent-er (note, Stephen vents a lot, and half the time it's his fault, but he won't believe it).

I have to say, that most of my closest freinds, whom I relate to the most, have not had the happiest childhood, and therefore, I feel comfortable talking with them about things. Stephen is not one of those people. Sure his brother beat him up when he was younger, they'd fight a lot, he didn't have a dad, but he had a loving family, and has strong bonds with his family. Not to [emo] myself here, but I didn't have any of that. I had family, we were somewhat close growing up, but not really. I was a loner, at school, at home, in my family. Every one of my cousins are different, 'the black sheep' if you will. We don't get a long, I dislike my parents, I dislike my family in general.

This will be somewhat revealing, but if you don't feel comfortable reading, do just skip it, really. Summary, I had a fucked up childhood.

-----------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------
As I said, I've a fucked up childhood, I had nobody really raise me, home alone a lot, most of what I can remember as far back as 2nd grade, and my babysitter's son wasn't the nicest of people. Oh, he was nice, but he did un-nice things to me, things people get in trouble for, things people go to jail for. He molested other kids too probably, I know of only 1 other. I never had any freinds growing up until 7th grade, when I got 2, close freinds. Before that, every freind I had used me, and it bit me in the ass in the end to befirend them. I'm also a transgender, female brain in a male body, but some argue that, I know what I know. Having nobody to talk to about that, I grew depressed and suicidal as young as 10, and would have dreams of being female, and nightmares of being abandoned or killed. I was noted to sleepwalk, sleeptalk, sleepscream, sleepassault even. I bring these points up not because I want sympathy, (because if that were true, I'd go into much more detail, about my mother, my father, my brother, etc), but because i watned to bring up a point.

-----------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------

Stephen grouped me and him in the same catagory. "People like us need to stick together" or something, when we were talking about our past. I mean, not to sound like a dramaqueen, but fuck you Stephen. How dare you put what I went through on par with what you went through. You had a tough older brother, I had it far worse. You had family, I didn't. You had freinds, I didn't. He's hurt a lot of people with his stubbornness, and with his ego (ties together hand and hand), he thinks we're all 'out to get him' and that we 'speak down to him' (and yes, again, we do when he's being an idiot about something we already warned him about, and when he does it again).

I told him, that if he wants to start, he has to do something. He needs to apolagize to people that he's hurt for being that way. You don't just say "well I'm going to change", you still need to repent (no religious implications intended) for what you've done. You know what you did was wrong now, shouldn't you say you're sorry? "No, I don't think that's necessary" he said. Fine. Step 1, admit you have a problem, you got that far, but you've taken that step a lot, and fallen back just as many times. You need to take the next step, rather than just know you have a problem.

I must end, and say that, Stephen has some good traits, a lot, but also, he's got bad traits, a LOT. I hope he gets his ass in gear and does something about it, he's 22 this year, and it's only gotten worse since I first met him, and it's only gotten harder to get through to him.

Lazy Saturday - Freaking tired

After the 9:40 showing of Superman (2.5 hours later) it was pretty damn late, but we all decided to keep hanging out. We did... until 8:30 am, and well uh... sleep... mm, yes my sleep schedule is off, bad. And I napped a bit, from 11~1, and then a bit from 6~9, but like, now I'm afraid I won't get enough sleep, or too much. I got like, 8 hours of sleep the 2 nights previous to last night, and so last night I got none, but got 5 hours of napping (which,in reality is less restful, it takes 30 min for your body to even try to get into full rest mode, not to mention tossing and turning). So my post, while late and at 1:46am and is technically sunday, pretend it's saturday. Oh, Superman was a fun movie, and exciting to watch. too tired to continue right now bye~ <3

Brain Age or Big Brain Academy?

Two mental exersize games for the DS, which is right for you? Let's take a look at each game.

Brain Age, Train Your Brain in Just Minutes a Day (yes, that's the complete title) is a daily workout for your brain. They 'award' you stamps each day that you do practice in the games they provide. They have the head of the game's creator (Japan's leading neurologist, or something like that) be your guide in the game. They greet you each day, and give you interesting tasks to do, within the game itself (well, outside the game, I guess). They'll ask you things like "What did you have for lunch today?" and then, a week later, ask you to recall what you had for lunch the previous week.

Once in the game, you play math games (20 simple math problems). The faster you complete it, the better grade you get, and the 'faster' your brain is working. They display something moving (a car, a bike, a train) to illustrate how well you did. Other games include, reading speed, 100 math problems, sylable count, word memorization (30 words, 2 minutes), Head Count (they'll show a house with some people, then, hide the people inside. Then, a series of people coming in and out of the house will begin, and after, you need to figure out how many people are left), and several others. The optimal age (according to him) is 20, and they'll give you a age count when you do the Brain Age test. The best I got (after several weeks, coming down from 70 somthing, freaking depressing as hell, considering I'm actually 20) is 21 years old, and that was hard.

Big Brain Academy is also heavy on mental exersizes, but is less like a daily workout with a guide. It has games that will show stacks of money, and you need to say which side has more, show animals on weights, Animal sounds that plays out like "Simon" does, written math (three plus four equals ?), connect the dots (They display an image on the top screen, with black lines, and a red line telling you what line to draw, on the bottom screen, there's a copy of the top image with black lines but no red lines. It could be flipped, up side down, NO black lines at all, etc, it gets harder), Memorizing cards (they'll show 3 images, and you'll need to remember what was there), and various games. There's 5 catagories, each with 3 games, and 3 difficulties, and they 'weigh' your brain to tell you how well you do, and award you medals per difficulty, per game, to mark that you completed it (gold is the best).

This flows in a different way compared to Brain Age, and would probably appeal to a wider audience. One is more dedicated in logical processing (Brain Age) and one has more creative games and is less serious (Big Brain Academy). What's right for you? I hope this helps you all a bit.

And for you whom don't have a DS, aren't interested in either game even though you have a DS, or don't care at all, something for everyone!

And last but not least, Happy Birthday Nathan. We're going to go watch Superman Returns together with a bunch of freinds, and hang out, get some food, and give him some stuff. What stuff? Gifts? We're a bunch of guys, nerdy guys. Probably magic cards and computer stuff. IN FACT, that is what we're getting him. =P

'Forgotten' Items

Origami, Top Hat,

I got a book on origami and origami paper during the last week that I forgot to mention in the last few posts. It's not just animals and things like that, they're more like strange shapes and larger, more complicated ones like these.
The top hat is hers, she got it for really cheap at a second hand store, but was one of the items she left in my car. I don't know if it was on purpose or not, but it's not a big deal I think, I'll take good care of it and return it to her when/if she wants. In other news, It's 9:30, I got up (late) to see her off for work, but went to sleep at 4:00ish, and now, I go back to sleep. Stupid interruptions by someone with a gift and offer I can't refuse (but I did) at 7:30am *grumble*

Competent, 26/40. But look at my rating, what? o_o?

C (Competent)
You got 26 questions right out of 40.

SCORING BREAKDOWN:

13/14 Easy Questions -- 10/13 Medium Questions -- 3/13 Hard Questions
You did pretty well. There were a bunch of questions you didn't get right, but there were a bunch you did. In all likelihood, you're an intelligent person. It's possible you don't have much reason to practice the finer points of Language and maybe you've gotten a bit rusty. Maybe you're still learning. Maybe you're a programmer, or still a student.

Even if you do still make common mistakes when writing or speaking, you're more than capable of expressing yourself clearly, so congratulations. That's more than many people can say.

Thanks again for taking the test!

My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

Update: Please update me

I'm lost in the dozens of posts on the many blogs I frequent, so if you visit mine, give me a summary of what's been going on in your lives. I see money troubles, guy troubles, more guy troubles, more money troubles, Pi (I need to see that movie, and perhaps read the book as well), A Scanner Darkly (I need to see that movie, and also, perhaps, read the book as well), lesbians, shaving, sex toys, and wow a lot of stuff going on. Oh, and Football, can't forget about that, right?

So, I guess I've a few questions to go with my posts. How've you all been in the past 2 weeks of MY hiatus? And while it seemed to have been a heated discussion, (and I will answer them myself as well)

-------------------------
1) Who shaves/waxes down there? (I've only asked a few people before, and the majority shaves, even if it's just to trim)
2) Does size REALLY matter? (on both genders *glares around*)
3) Personal preferences. What are yours? (The 'do's, and 'don't's, whoa that looks wierd)
4) (extension of 3) Major turn ons/offs? (Do you REALLY like big butts Bailey? =P)
5) Fetishes?
6) Who shot the deputy?
7) Where has all your money gone?
8) Blind, Deaf, Lose a limb?

-------------------------
1) Who shaves/waxes down there? I didn't really, but decided to recently. It makes it much easier to manage too. Pros and Cons? Less worry of accidentally leaving behind some hairs for some paticular reason, wherever you are, whatever you're doing (not implying anything *glares*). But, not use to seeing it so un-furry (so to speak) it does look odd.
2) Does size REALLY matter? I've really put physical assets on hold, and put personality, charisma, and things like that first.
3) Personal preferences. What are yours? Do be nice, think of others, do have your ego in check, do worry about me beause I worry about you and for you (a bit too much sometimes, sadly), do keep an open mind, do be patient with me, do help me with my insecurities because I have them, a lot of them *maniacal laughter*. Don't forget about me (insecurities eheh), don't neglect me (again!), don't use me, don't manipulate me, don't let me worry (again I say =/, insecure), don't care so much about what others think, don't forget that we each had lives before we met and while I may be dedicated to you, I do have other things that need tending and my attention. ^_^ (wow that list is long)
4) (extension of 3) Major turn ons/offs? Umm, hmm, I probably covered most of it in 3. Eyes (enter the Cliche), I know, but it's all in the eyes, and the smile. The eyes say a lot about a person, not just when you look into them, but you can speak with your eyes, eyebrows, etc. It says a lot about a person. Also, the smile, honest, modest, real. I can't really describe it any better than that. But ons and offs really, were already covered, and my on/offs are just extreme versions of what I said in 3.
5) Fetishes? Oh, well, 6 months ago, I'd have no idea. But now, I can hardly think of anything that doesn't go into this catagory... WHAT? >_>: Don't believe me? Ask me, prove me wrong.. PLEASE~ =P
6) Who shot the deputy? ... Fish Nazis. >_>:
7) Where has all your money gone? Phone Bill (note: Was NOT informed that the AIM program on my PDA phone counts as TEXT MESSAGING, so must make a concious descision to stop using AIM T_T), Anime Expo, Trip to Vegas, Gas, Gas, Gas, Food, Food, Gas, Food.
8) Blind, Deaf, Lose a limb? I wouldn't survive being Deaf. I thrive off music. Blind I could do with, just barely, because I use the computer a LOT. I could stand losing a limb, probably a foot. But if I had to choose one of those three, I'd lose a limb, definately. But my priorities are in the order of Hearing, Sight, Limb. (note, losing your sense of touch would be quite good/bad, same with smell. Couldn't feel your parthner, couldn't feel wounds so you could bleed to death, couldn't feel pain, couldn't feel ... sensations. With smell, food would taste a lot less as delicious, as a lot of taste is smell going up the back of your throat [ever have a stuffy nose? things don't taste as good], couldn't be warned of bad or good things either.)

Note: I was watching some episodes of Alton Brown's show on Food Network on DVD the other day, and up came the episode about "Foam". It covered the science, and food, behind foam. Foam? No, not the stuff at the top of your Capafrapadoublelateabomination. No, foam, Angel Food Cake. It's really just foam, that's baked! (what?) He mentioned soap, and Fight Club (one of my favorite movies of all time), and so, I must say, he's earned several thousand more points than he previously had, which was several billion. He's my favorite chef, ever. Blending Science and Food together, making it fun. Fun science? Seriously! Food... mmm... Good Eats! Watch it!Need to catch up on Anime, Honey and Clover Season 2 Episode 1 was released in the past 2 weeks, and 2 episodes of Haruhi was released. I drool now.

Summary:
Let me know what you've all been doing, list of questions, comments on Alton Brown, questions about anything, and uhh... I've missed you all T.T ahehehe

Update - Day 2, the day after that, and today, (the day after the day after day 2)

She's leaving tomorrow, we gotta get to the airport at 11am-ish, I'll update maybe the day of, or the day after? If I don't have anything better to do (ie, mope and miss her ahehehe [/emo]). We got some nice things, and she took some pictures. She'll send them to me when she gets back to Vegas and uploads them into her computer.

I met a couple of freinds at AX, Stephen, Tran, Loy and his Girlfriend, and a few others. It was nice to see them again, some I haven't seen for weeks, some for months, some since last AX. It was nice seeing Tasha in a more EGL-heavy enviorment, (hopefully able to provide pictures of said-event in the near future). Lots of souveniers, and I got a Potion (yes, the one from Final Fantasy, ever heard about it? Seen the commercial?) It definately is an energy drink, it's a fancy glass bottle, but the top is a plastic top, and under it, is a normal metalic-looking-plastic cap you can find on energy drinks. It definately tastes like ... what one would expect an energy drink to taste like, not so-delicious that you must chug it up like a regular drink, but not horrible to taste.

It was $20 USD, but the guy gave me a discount to $15 because buisness was bad I think. It comes with a nice plastic card that's transparent at some parts. It's nice ... but they're screens, stills, and art work from Final Fantasy XII, and I don't really care for that. There's 6 different bottle types and 27 different cards or something, I couldn't care less.

Other than that, I bought a new copy of Gloom with the Expansion (my old copy was ... damage before opening it). It's a card game, a nerdy one, of course, look who you're talking to! *groan* Each player controls a family of 5, and each turn you're trying to get your family as depressed and sad as possible, and kill them off. The player with the lowest score wins after any family is completely killed... did I mention this was gloomy? The US Government put a stop to the game from being sold last year, and it was 'on hold' until they OK'ed the game. It came out earlier this year, and I've been wanting it for over a year. I got a copy a couple of weeks ago, but I got a new one($20, eeh) because 1, I like supporting independent mom-and-pop-not-chain-stores, and 2, I wanted a new copy. I also spent some money on other misc games, like UFS, a new card game system that's a "Universal Fighting System", that's a customizable collectable card game, that has characters from Soul Calibur, Street Fighter, and Penny Arcade! (what?) It's a turn based game that consists of attacks, and power ups, and it plays like a fighting game, sort of. You have high, mid, and low attacks, throws, elemental attacks, etc etc, and from the look of it, is kind of interesting. So I got 2 preconstructed decks, and I'll test them out tomorrow with some freinds if I get a chance. Also, got (dirt cheap) the Roy and Scar starters for the Full Metal Alchemist card game ($2 each, MAJOR discount from the normal $10 suggested retail price). I have no idea how to play, but at $2 each, I won't lose much, and add another game to my list of games I've tried.

I'll post more as I get a chance, but it's time to eat, and I am hungry.

Anime Expo - Day 1

Don't expect me to update beyond this for a while, I'll probably post pictures and have exciting adventures to tell about when I get back, but that won't be until the 4th or 5th, MAYBE. I'm wearing a top-hat. Oh Joy? :D
